A South African National Input Database To Run The Swat Model In A GIS - Soil Map

This dataset provided multiple national-scale geospatial input layers intended to serve as baseline inputs for setting up and running SWAT via ArcSWAT or QSWAT/SWAT+ in South Africa. It included SWAT catchment outline data (tertiary and quaternary), national land cover maps (2014, 2018 and 2020) at 20–30 m resolution that were linked to SWAT land cover codes, a national soil map with SWAT attribute data derived from pedotransfer functions applied to the Land Type Database of South Africa (usable at 1:250,000), and weather generator (WGN) statistics files for 12 stations compiled from Agricultural Research Council sources. The baseline data supported hydrological modellers by reducing setup time and improving consistency across SWAT applications in South Africa, while the publication evaluated performance by applying the baseline datasets in four previously simulated catchments
