| Dataset description | SAPWAT 3 (South African Planning and Water Allocation Tool) is a computer-based irrigation water requirement planning model developed for South Africa and similar climates. Its main purpose is to estimate crop irrigation water requirements to support planning, design, water licensing, and water resource management. SAPWAT 3 is an enhanced version of earlier SAPWAT models, incorporating improved functionality, expanded databases, and tools to verify the accuracy of irrigation estimates. It is not a crop growth model, but a planning and decision‑support model that simulates crop development in a simplified, standardised way. |
