Citizen Science - Water Quality
The Citizen Science – Water Quality group brings together community‑generated water quality observations to support the monitoring, understanding, and management of freshwater resources. The group promotes the use of simple, standardised methods and low‑cost tools that enable citizens, schools, NGOs, and local stakeholders to collect data on parameters such as turbidity, nutrients, salinity, temperature, and pollution indicators. These data complement formal monitoring programmes, expand spatial and temporal coverage, and support early detection of water quality issues, environmental awareness, and evidence‑based decision‑making.
