Water-Energy-Food Nexus

The Water–Energy Nexus (WEN) Research Group focuses on understanding and improving the interdependencies between water systems and energy systems. The group supports research that quantifies how water is required to produce, treat, and distribute energy, and how energy is required to abstract, treat, move, and reuse water. It brings together datasets, models, and case studies to advance integrated planning, resource efficiency, and resilience under pressures such as climate variability, population growth, and infrastructure constraints. Typical outputs include harmonised datasets, decision-support tools, scenario analyses, and evidence to inform policy and investment in sustainable water and energy services.
